The European Academy of Nursing Science (EANS) Winter e-Summit 2021
University of Peloponnese, Greece (Host)
Friday February 19, 2021
Topic: Policy Making – How nursing could make the difference

The EANS Winter Summit
The EANS Winter e-Summit 2021 will be a gathering of nurse scientists from across Europe and worldwide who come together to progress the scientific aims of EANS, develop collaborations and deepen their understanding of nursing. In addition, the Summit seeks to increase our understanding of nursing research in its various contexts within and outside Europe, during the current era of web-based meetings and communication.

Aim
This year’s Winter e-summit aims to provide a platform for EANS members and also non-members, to learn, discuss, network, and get and provide new ideas and inspiration on an important topic. The e-summit is concerned with policy making in nursing. So far, nursing does not have an established strong voice in policy-making and political decision making across Europe. However, there are examples of successful influencers with a nursing background and nurses with outstanding roles in politics. In order to developing strong voices in policy making, it is essential to upgrade nurses’ knowledge, skills and competences in leadership, power gaming and advocacy and their ability to change. Format
Parallel workshops, roundtables, interviewing, e-posters and informal talks will allow to address this topic from different angles and viewpoints. Policy making in education, research, clinical practice, European funding, political decision making, and examples of good practice within Europe or abroad, are some of the topics that will be addressed.

Web based Format
Interview, interactive keynotes and discussion, round tables and discussion, e-posters and informal talks.
